We know that Insights Discovery works with a 4 colour model, we have all four colour energies,
its the combination of these colours that shows our working style, and typically we lead with a certain colour more than others.
Knowing my own working style and Insights Discovery preferences has helped me immensely when working with colleagues and even starting in new roles. Why….?
I am a Creative type which means my two preferred colours are opposite to each other…. You might question, why would colleagues need to know that…
It helps them to understand where my thoughts go when planning work or projects etc. and help them try to adapt to my point of view and by knowing this, it does make it easier for people to connect with me or challenge me more effectively .
One moment i will be saying “I feel this initiative could be of real benefit for people” and in the next breathe I’m saying “ We need to make sure we meet this project deadline! ”
Why should teams reflect on their working style?
Allowing teams to explore and get a better understanding of their own preferences as well each others can allow them to build stronger relationships and enable them to work better together. They can begin to appreciate their differences and how they can better learn from each other.
It can allow teams to take the time to come up with more effective work place solutions, such as ‘How do we collaborate better together’, ‘How do we make better decisions’ ‘How do we prefer to receive information’
